Odds are that you have googled "Neurofibromatosis" a million times...looking for answers. Searching for the "what ifs", for yourself or your children....I know, I have done the exact same thing. But the thing to remember, is that MOST of the cases of Neurofibromatosis, are considered mild, and will NEVER become what you see on-line.
Here is an honest look, at what MOST people with NF deal with.
Cafe Au Laits
Auxiliary Freckling
Small hyperpigmented spots that are difficult to distinguish from freckles may appear on the skin. Freckling usually occurs in areas of skin exposed to sun, but NF may cause freckling in other areas, including the armpit (axilla) and the groin.
Six or more flat areas of "hyperpigmentation" on the skin
(cafe au lait spots) are the most common clinical sign of NF.
Freckling and Birth marks on my 13 yr old
These spots usually appear by 2 years of age and increase in number over time. They are tan in light-skinned people, darker than surrounding skin in dark-skinned people, and they usually darken with age.
